Zip.ca and the Toronto International Film Festival® are teaming up for the second year to deliver 30 years of great Festival films to the doorsteps of movie lovers across Canada.
Building on last year’s program, members will have access to over 1,000 Toronto International Film Festival® titles for rental and over 200 for purchase. Zip.ca has also unveiled www.zip.ca/tiff, featuring Festival news and information, with spotlights on Canadian directors, actors and featured films throughout the Festival’s duration September 8th to 17th and daily blog updates from Zip.ca’s on-site reviewers.
“Since opening our virtual doors in February 2004, we have committed ourselves to promoting festivals of Canadian film. The Toronto International Film Festival® is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world and has become a cornerstone of Canadian film,” said Rick Anderson, President and CEO of Zip.ca. “Our involvement in TIFF extends the Festival’s reach to all Canadians, by making titles available for rent or purchase year round, to each and every Canadian household.”
Zip.ca also supports the Festival’s regional Film Circuit, which facilitates the screenings of Canadian and international independent films in over 190 communities across the country. The mandate of Film Circuit is to help communities to access Canadian and international films in underserved markets. Film Circuit responds to an increasing demand for independent and international cinema and develops audiences for Canadian films.
“Our partnership with Zip.ca as the Official Online DVD Rental Service of the Toronto International Film Festival® and Film Circuit creates a wonderful opportunity for us to reach a larger audience and to foster greater awareness of quality Canadian and international films,” said Heather Sinclair, Director of Sales and Marketing of the Toronto International Film Festival Group. “Zip.ca is blazing a great trail into the homes of Canadian movie lovers through its promotion of TIFF and the Film Circuit.
