Zip.ca Sails into Canada's East Coast Film Scene

Sep 1, 2005

As part of its continued support of Canada’s film and video industry, Zip.ca has announced its inaugural sponsorship of the 2005 Atlantic Film Festival. The Festival, which is committed to screening an inspiring and engaging collection of films and videos from the Atlantic Provinces, Canada and around the world, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and runs from September 17 to 25, 2005 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“We are delighted to partner with one of Canada’s most popular and enduring film festivals as they celebrate 25 years of bringing quality cinema to movie lovers in Eastern Canada,” said Rick Anderson, President & CEO, Zip.ca. “We’re looking forward to supporting Atlantic Canada’s film community and giving Canadians from coast to coast access to some of the best films the festival has to offer delivered to their door.”

As part of their sponsorship agreement, Zip.ca is the official sponsor of the Zip.ca Online Festival Box Office offering festival attendees the chance to avoid line-ups by purchasing tickets online.  Festival-goers who purchase their tickets online will have the chance to win a 3-month free Zip.ca membership every day from August 30 to September 23, and will automatically be entered into the grand prize draw for a one-year Zip.ca membership. Zip.ca’s website (www.zip.ca) features a list of all films that have screened at the Atlantic Film Festival and are currently available on DVD in Canada.

“We’re very excited to be teaming up with Zip.ca to not only celebrate our 25th anniversary, but to create more of an online presence with the brand new Zip.ca Online Festival Box Office,” said Gregor Ash, Executive Director, Atlantic Film Festival Association. “We wanted to use all of our online resources as much as possible to increase access to our exciting line-up of films, special events and industry programs in advance. Thanks to Zip.ca, we can.”

Zip.ca is a proud supporter of the Canadian film community and sponsors a number of Canadians festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Calgary International Film Festival and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
